The 2025 British Boulder Championships came to an electrifying conclusion on Sunday 26 January, at Big Depot, Manchester, where Erin McNeice, Jack MacDougall, Iggy Rinaldi, and Spike Fullwood were crowned national champions after an intense weekend of competition.

Senior Women’s Final

Olympian Erin McNeice made an emphatic debut at the British Boulder Championships, clinching her first title with a dominant display. After finishing just behind 2023 champion Holly Toothill in the qualifiers, McNeice stepped up in the semi-finals, topping all four problems in just five attempts. She then delivered a perfect performance in the finals, flashing every boulder to secure the championship title.

Emma Edwards, who entered the finals in sixth position, was the only other competitor to top all four boulders, securing the silver medal. Meanwhile, Fae MacDougall rounded out the podium in third after flashing the last two boulders.

Defending champion Zoë Peetermans had a strong start to the final, being one of only three athletes to top the first problem but struggled to gain any points on boulder two and couldn’t find the top on boulder three, ultimately finishing in fifth place.

Senior Men’s Final

The men’s final saw Jack MacDougall emerge victorious, claiming his second title in as many appearances. MacDougall, who had not competed in 2024, was one of three climbers to top three of the four final boulders, ultimately securing the gold medal.

On winning his second Championship title, an emotional Jack MacDougall said: "the feeling is so strong, I didn't think this was even a possibility, like oh my god this is so fun, so many emotions. I didn't think this comp meant so much to me... but no words".

Hamish McArthur took silver, falling just short of MacDougall by a narrow margin of attempts, while Dayan Akhtar settled for third. Despite being unable to secure the zone on boulder one, Akhtar delivered an otherwise stellar performance, including a flash of boulder four.

Olympic champion Toby Roberts finished fourth with two tops and three zones, while Max Milne placed fifth. 2024 champion Sam Butterworth finished just behind in sixth.

In the U17 Women’s final, Iggy Rinaldi took gold with three tops and four zones. Imogen Lilley finished second with two tops and four zones, and Martha Frost-Mullen, the only other climber to achieve a top, secured the bronze.

Under-17 Men’s Final

In the U17 Men’s category, Spike Fullwood claimed the championship title with three tops in a final that saw only seven tops in total. Harveer Seikham finished second after securing the zone on the boulder 2 and Tom Bouwknegt completed the podium in third.

The event was support by an incredibly strong team of volunteers who worked tirelessly across judging, scoring and ticketing.
